In 2022, the National Italian American Foundation relaunched the Dr. A. Kenneth Ciongoli Colloquia, a series of speakers, panel discussions and lectures that examine the global contributions of Western civilization. The lectures take place on select college campuses through the NIAF on Campus program. Furthermore, to promote the positive image and legacy of Italian Americans the lecture series will discuss Italian and Italian American culture, heritage and history.
Many critics cite Howard Zinn’s The People’s History of the United States as the origin of the growing shift in the Columbus narrative. Through the Dr. A. Kenneth Ciongoli Colloquia 2022 series, NIAF is setting the record straight on Columbus and hosting a series of lectures featuring Dr. Mary Grabar, author of Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation Against America. In her lecture, Dr. Grabar illustrates how Zinn’s work paints a false narrative of Christopher Columbus’ legacy.
The 2022 Dr. A. Kenneth Ciongoli lecture series schedule:
- Columbus Citizens Foundation on Thursday, September 8 in New York, N.Y. WATCH
- University of Central Florida on Thursday, October 6 in Orlando, FL
